Features, free tiers and paid plans change. Check the provider’s current plan before signing up; pricing has not been independently audited. No paid placement.
We start with a human activity, then look for documented capabilities that fit it. Each entry states the task, reason, evidence and tradeoff. These are provisional picks to evaluate, not a claim of superior performance. Directory order is not a ranking.
We have not run a controlled comparison across these 25 products. Our next test is whether a reader can complete the stated task accurately, trace the result to evidence, understand the cost and keep appropriate control over their data. We will publish test results separately when available.
Activity: Understand a selected collection of documents. Evidence: Google documents support for imported sources and source-focused questions. AIAF analysis: That makes it a useful starting point when the material you want to understand is already defined. It does not establish that it is the best notebook.
Tradeoffs: Imported material can omit content: Google notes that web imports exclude embedded images and videos, and Google-file imports omit footnotes and comments. Always check the originals.
